Hi there! My name is Josh. I have been working with students of all ages as a private educator and test prep tutor since 2019.  I specialize in comprehensive Test Preparation (SAT/ACT/HSPT/GRE/etc.), Math and English Tutoring, and Executive Function Coaching. We have a team of exceptional educators that specialize in additional science, history, math, and language topics, so whatever you need, we’ve got you covered!

Most of my students are of middle or high school age and have sought long term relationships.  I strive to be there to assist them through their entire high school careers, from Algebra freshman year all the way up through taking the SAT or ACT.

I love the challenge of presenting material to my students in a way that most resonates with their specific learning styles, personalities, and interests. My approach to tutoring has always been as a holistic service - encouraging the development of the student’s passions, autonomy, and confidence along the way, so that they leave High School ready to take on any challenge that life brings. Everyone on the Vertical Prep team shares this philosophy.

I value so much the success of my students. I enjoy getting to know each and every one of them personally, and I look forward to being their guide and advocate as they progress through this important part of their lives.  As their personal academic coach, I am committed to challenging them to think critically about the material they are learning in a way that sparks their interest and curiosity beyond what is possible in a classroom setting.

In 2018, I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelors degree in Philosophy and Psychology.  Over the years, I've worked with a number of different test prep companies located all across the country, from LA and San Francisco on the West Coast, to Connecticut and my home state of Pennsylvania on the East.  The most important thing I’ve learned about how to foster a successful one-on-one educational experience is to highly value the quality of the relationship built between the student, parent, and tutor. That is why I began my own endeavor, so that I may maintain full accountability not only to my students but to you as well.
